Human Trafficking Awareness Month
January 1 - 31
SWM Human Trafficking task force has joined forces with the Michigan Abolitionist Project. (There will still be a local presence and team but MAP is the official name now.)
As it is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, we have some really exciting things in the works. The series of Zoom chats Trafficking Talks: A Human Trafficking Awareness Series we’ve been planning are all set up and you can find more information here. Terri Albers, Meg Gallert, Brook Thomas and Allie Kibler-Campbell will all be presenting alongside Stacey Sills from Ottawa County Task Force and Meredith Reese of Vista Maria in Detroit. If you’d like to help us promote the event you can use the flyer attached and the link above or share MAP’s upcoming social posts. Thank you to everyone that helped brainstorm this event and a special thank you to our presenters!
MAP also will be hosting two other events this month that I wanted to share with you. We recorded this podcast with Joyce Dixson-Haskett, leader and advocate for trafficking victims. MAP will also be hosting it’s annual roundtable (virtually) this year with Kent County Trafficking Coalition. This will be a great place to learn and network for advocates and professionals who are active in addressing human trafficking.
